More about Dr. Muñoz
Dr. Muñoz became the second endocrinologist in the state of Georgia, and the first in the Atlanta area, to receive an Endocrine Certification in Neck Ultrasound (ECNU). ECNU is a professional certification from the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE) in the field of neck ultrasonography for physicians who perform consultations and diagnostic evaluations for thyroid and parathyroid disorders through both diagnostic ultrasound and ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration (UGFNA). ECNU is recognized by the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM), one of the preeminent national accreditation bodies for ultrasound practices.
Dr. Muñoz has performed ultrasound-guided thyroid fine needle biopsies since 2010. He utilizes the Afirma Thyroid FNA Analysis and ThyroSeq Next Generation Sequencing, which combines specialized cytopathology and genomic molecular marker testing for improved thyroid nodule diagnosis.
